Fatboy Trio on the Bettina Show

Here’s a reminder to turn up the volume on your TV sets on Saturday the 4th of Feb.
The Fatboy Trio with Hannu, Alf and Pegge will host the Bettina Talkshow and do “Last Train Home” in a live version. Since the show is about the interaction between the two countries, Hannu will give us a view on how life was being born in Finland and coming to Sweden.

SVT2 Saturday 18.20 is the warmup time for the Saturday Night HolaaBaloo or the start of a cozy evening in front of the fireplace. Either way, Fatboy will get ya in da mood……Stay warm!

Varje rockabillyband med självaktning bör ha ett eget öl.

När det flerfaldigt prisbelönade Dalabryggeriet Oppigårds kontaktade oss i Fatboy och erbjöd sig att brygga en exklusiv Ale i vårt namn tog det exakt en sekund innan vi tackade ja. Med Stockholms främsta ölpalats, Akkurat på tåget, är vi extra stolta!

Vi arbetar just nu med vårt fjärde album men kommer att ta ett avbrott i arbetet för att dricka öl. Söndagen den 4 mars välkomnas fans och vänner till att låta sig väl smaka av både öl och Fatboy live.

Fatboy Brown Ale är en lite mörkare ale med maltsmaker som i smakskalan kan placeras mellan knäck, farin och mörk choklad. Ölet är även humlat med ett antal amerikanska humlesorter som ger ölet en modern citruston.

Every rockabilly band worth its salt should have its own beer.

When the multi-award winning Dala brewery Oppigårds contacted us in Fatboy and offered to brew an exclusive Ale in our name, it took exactly one second before we said yes. With Stockholm’s number one beer hall, Akkurat, in the boat it felt like a match made in heaven!

We are currently working on our fourth album, but will take a short break at work to drink beer. Sunday 4th of March we welcome fans and friends to taste our delicious beer and listen to Fatboy live.

Fatboy Brown Ale is a darker ale with malt flavors and taste of toffee, brown sugar and dark chocolate. The beer also consists of a number of American varieties of hops that gives it a modern touch of citrus.

In the haze of Christmas shopping mania, Fatboy stepped into the Decibel Studio in Stockholm (http://www.decibelstudios.se/) to do some sessions at this legendary studio. What a thrill to see everyone again! We have all been busy with other projects and after catching up with the latest gossip, we were ready to push the red button. And, as natural as a tree indoors, a couple of new Fatboy originals were brought to daylight as the angels cried.

Throwing our arms around Berlin

Last week Pegge and Hannu jumped on an aeroplane that took them down to the city of Berlin for a writing session with the very talented Michelle, that has her studio in the former East Berlin. It was a short but intense stay involving a good day’s writing resulting in a By-the-way-what’s-your-name-kind of uptempo duet! We hi-jacked a poor guy that was working in the studio next door to do a demo recording of the song. It was an old Stasi room with the perfect acoustics. Scary, but that’s one of the ingredients of Rockabilly…… Of course you cannot leave Berlin without paying a visit to the White Trash and the Bassy Club. So we did, didn’t we?
Now we can’t wait to bring the boys together for a session with the new songs. Stay true!

Radio Stockholm Calling

On this very friday, the 7th october, Fatboy Trio will make an appearance live on the radio show “Musikplats Stockholm”. We thought Berlin would be the last show of 2011 but there is nothing like a good Fat surprise. It will be broadcasted live in front of the people who make their way to the Radio building in Stockholm between 10-13 on friday. So why not make it an early weekend and join us on friday!! Berlin was the last stop of the Deutschland Overdrive Tour! A sunday night at the legendary Roadrunners Bike Club. Getting on top of yourself and giving the Berliner a taste of Fatboy at it’s very best was this sunday night’s mission. Despite a 12 day (and night) touring in our body and soul we gave our very best and we do hope you got a sip of the Fatboy poison. If not, we will be back in your exciting city!! If not tomorrow, then maybe the day after. And what a pleasure meeting up with Ingo & his crew at White Trash! Thanks!
We salute you all – fans and music lovers – for meeting Fatboy this September! Love to you all!

Hamburg Reeperbahn Festival

After a flying breakfast we only had to travel some 10 miles to reach Hamburg und Reeperbahn Festival and, as a miracle, with a day off. I wonder if the booking agent knew what he was doing……..but Hamburg and St Pauli was such a thrill to visit with it’s good food, record stores, vintage clothing and the pride of FC St. Pauli playing one of their homegames. The day was wrapped up with a livegig from the Berliner Kamikaze Queens in the harbour. Perfect!
With a day off on a tour like this you’re eager to gig again, especially when you see other bands live. So we couldn’t wait to get on stage at The Gruner Jäger. The only problem was how to squezze in six fullgrown bastards on a tiny stage used for Hamburger Hompa Blasen. But once Fatboy was there nothing could get us offstage. And what a crowd! Amazing, with sounds that lifted the rooftop to the stars and gave us energy that will last all the way to Berlin. It was a pleasure meeting you all and a special salute to the hospitality of Bela B showing us the good sides of the city. Hats off to Hamburg!

Bremen Bop

OK, sorry for the short delay in the reporting of this Overdrive Bockwurst Tour, but we suffered from bad connections to the wonderful world of 3G or Wi-Fi. Anyway, the next stop was Bremens Lagerhaus, a punky club in a really nice neighbourhood with clubs and vintage shops. After a short nap we got up to enjoy the sounds of Bremen Rockabilly band Velvetone! A really strong band with great output. Thanks for backing us up – onstage and offstage! Fatboy had a great night with the good crowd that showed up for the Bremen Bop.

The band in a cheerful mood, relaxing and having fun moments before a show…….

Weinheim Twist

Weinheim, not far from the center of knowledge Heidelberg, was the third halt of the Overdrive Tour. With just 35 miles in summer heat (!) we were treated with local food and wine at the Central Café. Served with tender care. The nightly show was to be recognized but this time, with a drop of poison in it – The Weinheim Twist. We do hope too see you and all your friends in the future.
This day holds some 50 miles to the Bop Street City of Bremen, see you out there!

Fat Fest

Fatboy’s next hold in Germany was nothing less than Bayrische Munich! High on yodel and Gebirgsjägerbrot, Fatboy delivered 16 tons of energy in minor keys to the people who chose Fat Fest instead of Oktober Fest. It was a pleasure meeting you all! See you soon in a bierstube near you!

Kolding past Midnight

After a few rainy hours in our beloved Fatboy Overdrive Tour Bus, Kolding, Denmark was the next victim of this tour. The good people of this city was to be exposed to the sounds of heartbending, mindwrecking Melancholy Rockabilly from the north. The shaggy rock club Pitstop suited Fatboy perfect for this Saturday night. We salute the dedicated music lovers that supported us through the night and hopefully we will see you again in the near future. Keep up the good work in supporting Fatboy by spreading the word! But the question of the night remains – who was the winner of the Hillybilly Limbo contest?

Copenhagen at Midnight

Last night Fatboy made their first appearance on Danish soil. Beatiful Copenhagen was drenched in sunshine and greeted us with smörrebröd, pölser and Gammeldansk! Ohhwee! Sometimes we have the best job around. The Danish (actually Scandinavian) crowd seemed to enjoy the Rockabilly Drama Fatboy presented at Beta around midnight. A room full of tapping feet can’t be wrong, Fatboy Will be back!

Polska Rockabilly vol.2

Wanted!!! A new booking agent that appreciates and understands the value of S L E E P !
According to the Fatboy (rock around the) clock, the bus left to the airport at 4 in the morning. As usual, we were struggling home as the birds woke up…….
Finally there, at the Park Kultury in the small town of Nowy Tomysl we were welcomed by Magic Man Piotr Kujda (hope I got that right…) and his fabolous crew. Fatboy preached about bad news, trains that never goes home and tears that never leaves. In other words, one joyful evening. And we just have to salute the fans that drove 500km (!) from Warsaw for a happy afternoon with Fatboy. We are not worthy….can’t wait to see you all again! Til then, Rock Hard!

Return of the Ugly

Of course Fatboy was invited to the “Return of the Ugly” festival in Västerås along with acts like The Beat from Palookaville, Barbwires and Ray Collins Hot Club!!!! A big hand for the handsome blokes that created a great line-up for the evening although it left more to wish from the lack of sounds that came off stage. Not all bands are blessed with a guy like Robban, the Master of Audio! Ugly or not, Fatboy had a blast giging the scene of Västerås along with the beatiful people that showed up. Until next time!

Bad News From Suomi

Today we lost one the big influences of Fatboy; Topi Sorsakoski. A great singer that outshined most of todays “singers” on a good day. He was supposed to join Fatboy on stage on one of the shows in Finland on our latest tour but, unfortunately, could not make it. Today we know why. RIP.
